MR Findings of Hepatic Actinomycosis: Case Report
نویسندگان
چکیده
disease caused by Actinomyces israelii and characterized by the formation of multiple abscesses, draining sinuses, granulation and fibrous tissues (1, 2). The clinical and radiologic findings of actinomycosis can often overlap with those of other chronic inflammatory or neoplastic lesions, and actinomycosis is still difficult to diagnose radiologically during its early stage (1, 3, 4). Several reports have described the radiologic findings of abdominal actinomycosis, but few have mentioned the MR imaging findings of hepatic actinomycosis (3) and none have described the contrast-enhanced MRI findings. We report the contrast-enhanced CT and MR imaging findings in one case of hepatic actinomycosis. Case Report

Lumbar Actinomycosis: A Case Report
live in the mouth, gut and female genitalia. Actinomycetes are gram-positive filamentous bacteria rather than fungi, as is sometimes assumed (1). The first case of actinomycosis in a human was reported by Lebert in 1857 (1). Despite the frequency of actinomycosis, spinal actinomycosis is rarely encountered. In this report we describe the computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) imag...
متن کاملVocal Cord Actinomycosis: A Case Report
Introduction: Actinomycosis is a systemic chronic bacterial infection caused by Actinomyces Israelii, an anaerobic organism normally resident in the human mouth. However, the actinomycosis of the larynx is very rare, and only about 15 cases have been reported in the literature so far. Most of the cases reported occurred in patients who had previously undergone radiotherapy for laryngeal cancer...
متن کاملHepatic actinomycosis presenting as a liver tumour: case report and literature review.
Hepatic actinomycosis poses a difficult problem in both diagnosis and management. We report the management of a patient with isolated hepatic actinomycosis, and review the clinical features and management of patients with hepatic actinomycosis mimicking liver tumour.
متن کاملA Case Report of Periapical Actinomycosis of Maxilla
Actinomycosis is a chronic and less common infectious process that established by Actinomyces israilii. Involvement of faciocervical region is more common than thorasic and visceral types and typically involves the angle of mandible and with less occurrence rate the upper jaw may also be involved. Periapical lesions of maxilla that involved in this process by Actinomyces israilii are rare and c...
متن کاملThe role of high mobility group box chromosomal protein 1 expression in the differential diagnosis of hepatic actinomycosis: a case report
UNLABELLED INTRODUCTION Primary hepatic actinomycosis is a rare disease, but is important in the differential diagnosis of hepatoma in endemic areas. As high mobility group box chromosomal protein 1 plays an important role in the pathogenesis of both acute and chronic inflammatory conditions, we postulate that high mobility group box chromosomal protein 1 may have a possible pathogenic role ...
